HOUSTON – Two alleged human smugglers and 38 undocumented immigrants were taken into custody at a southwest Houston apartment complex, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement said Tuesday.
The bust happened at the Los Arcos apartments on Fondren Road near Ludington Drive on Monday night.
A spokesman for ICE said Houston police found the immigrants crammed into two apartments while investigating a hostage case.
A bus was brought in to take away the immigrants, which included 32 adult males, 3 adult females, 1 juvenile male, and 2 juvenile females.
Two suspected smugglers were arrested at a nearby location.
ICE said all of the immigrants came from El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Mexico.
