HOUSTON – Investigators have linked a Houston man to the assault of a woman who was raped at knifepoint in November 2012, according to Houston police.
Jairo Hernandez, 30, was charged with aggravated sexual assault of an adult.
The victim said she was walking to her boyfriend’s home on November 24 when she asked an unknown man, Hernandez, for a ride. Instead of driving to her boyfriend’s home, Hernandez allegedly drove to another location, pulled out a large butcher knife an instructed her to pull down her pants. He then raped her.
After it was over, the woman hopped out of the car and ran to flag down a police officer. The victim was then taken to Northwest Memorial Hermann Hospital, where a rape kit examination was performed.
Later, a CODIS hit from the Texas Department of Public Safety linked Hernandez to the crime. The victim was also able to positively identify her attacker from a photo lineup.
The official charging document was filed on September 19, 2013. Documents show that Hernandez is in jail and has no bond.
