HOUSTON – A man suspected of purchasing drugs led police on a high-speed chase, weaving around northwest Houston streets late Thursday, according to Houston police.

An HPD unit attempted to pull over a pickup truck at W. Mount Houston at Airline for a traffic violation around 11 p.m., but the driver refused to stop. The pickup driver sped on, leading police on a high-speed chase while running red lights.

Police followed the driver from Airline to Parker, then south on Bauman, where police had set up spikes near Tidwell. The driver caught a flat tire, but continued driving to Crosstimbers, turned west to Airline and south to 34th, then eventually ran out of road on Bayou and drove into a field.

That is where it all ended and the suspect was finally taken into custody.

Police believe the man bought crack cocaine on W. Mount Houston, which is why he decided to flee.
