HOUSTON—Charges have been filed against a man accused of dragging a dog behind his vehicle in 2012, according to the Houston Police Department.
Anthony Andrew Rozo, 19, was charged with cruelty to animals.
A witness saw a Chevy pickup truck dragging a boxer behind it in the 7300 block of the Gulf Freeway on August 11, 2012.
When the truck exited at Wayside and stopped at a light, the witness approached and confronted Rozo, who was driving the pickup.
Rozo allegedly said “Hey, why do you care,” then got out of the truck, picked up the dog and drove off.”
The witness called authorities and Rozo was questioned the next day.
HPD officers found a dog cage in the back of the truck, but no dog. Rozo told them that he never
dragged a dog, but did take one to a veterinary clinic on Highway 290 and West Road. Officers then let him go.
After checking out Rozo’s story about the vet clinic, they found that it was false.
was enough to indict. A warrant was then issued for his arrest. Rozo already had a lengthy criminal record in Harris and Brazoria County.
