HOUSTON – A man beat his wife, then dangerously ran down a freeway with his young son while intoxicated Sunday night, according to Houston police.
Oswaldo Hernandez Rodriguez, 28, was charged with endangering a child and assaulting a family member; both felonies.
Police said on August 25, Hernandez was driving on the Southwest Freeway with his family when he and his wife began to argue. He started hitting his wife, in front of their two small children, then pulled over near the Fondren exit and choked her.
The wife told their 7-year-old daughter to call 911, but when the little girl tried, her dad grabbed the phone.
Rodriguez then snatched the couple’s 2-year-old out of the vehicle and started running down the feeder with him.
When police arrived, they found the father and son. The boy was frightened, but not hurt.
Rodriguez was then placed under arrest. He was booked into the Harris County Jail and no bond has been given at this time for the child endangerment charge.
