HOUSTON – Houston police are searching for two suspects who allegedly broke into a Kroger in north Houston early Monday to steal cigarettes while frightened employees were inside.
Employees were stocking shelves inside the store on Airline and Parker when they heard someone prying open the front door.
The employees then saw two men, wearing hoodies and white towels concealing their faces, loading cartons of cigarettes into trash bags. One of the employees tried to confront the crooks, but stopped when a handgun was pointed at his face.
The suspects then ran out of the store, dropping cigarettes along the way, and hopped a fence along the back side of the store. The suspects were then believed to have fled in a waiting vehicle. They remain on the loose.
