HOUSTON –- A hazmat team with the Houston Fire Department responded to reports of a chemical leak at a business in east Houston late Tuesday.
Workers reported the leak shortly after 9 p.m. on Gazin Street at Larimer Street.
Houston police closed streets as a shelter-in-place went into effect for nearby homes.
Workers told firefighters that a cylinder with anhydrous hydrogen chloride was damaged, and there were concerns the chemical would leak out and mix with rain water.
No injuries were reported, but hazmat crews remained at the scene for several hours to assist in the cleanup.
