HOUSTON – Firefighters have contained a warehouse fire that started early Sunday afternoon at a recycling facility in east Houston.
Fire investigators on the scene tell KHOU 11 News that the facility, located at the intersection of Kress and Old Clinton, houses shredded paper and trash.
The heavy smoke from the fire resulted in a shelter-in-place order being issued for residents living just north of the scene. The order was lifted after firefighters contained the blaze.
Investigators said that the fire occurred in an area towards to the back of the facility, so the warehouse itself was not damaged.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
