HOUSTON – Investigators believe Christmas decorations started a fire in a high rise in downtown Houston.

The fire was reported around 5:30 a.m. Monday on Lamar Street at Caroline Street.

Firefighters with the Houston Fire Department said they spotted smoke coming from the fourth floor of Houston Center, but the building’s fire sprinklers had already put out the flames.

The sprinklers also flooded the fourth floor, pouring water down the elevator shafts. Firefighters were able to shut off the sprinkler system.

No injuries were reported.
