HFD: Child injured after 2-alarm fire at SW Houston apartment complex

HOUSTON – As many as 30 people were displaced Saturday evening after a two-alarm building fire damaged nine units in southwest Houston, fire officials said.

According to the Houston Fire Department, firefighters responded to the fire at the Westpark Apartments just after 6 p.m. in the 6100 block of the Southwest Freeway near Westpark Drive.

Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire after about an hour.

One child, around the age of 5, was transported to a local hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation, HFD officials said.
