HOUSTON – Investigators with the Houston Fire Department said early Wednesday an apartment fire may have been intentionally set by an arsonist.
HFD said firefighters were called to a complex on Hayes Road around 5:30 a.m. They found flames shooting out the window of a second floor apartment unit. They made a fast attack and kept it from spreading, but the flames still damaged two units.
Firefighters said both of the units were vacant at the time, and no injuries were reported.
People living the apartments below sustained water and smoke damage to their property, HFD said.
Arson investigators said they were concerned someone may have set the fire. They said a nearby fire on Wilcrest was also being investigated as it broke out about an hour before.
