HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – One man is dead after his house went up in flames Friday night in north Houston, fire officials said.
According to the Houston Fire Department, firefighters responded to the house fire around 11:30 p.m. at Caplin and Fulton. When HFD arrived at the scene, they found a one story wood-frame home with heavy flames coming from the front of the house.
Firefighters said they made a fast attack and got the blaze under control quickly, but by the time they got to the homeowner, Pedro Vasquez, 69, it was too late.
Fire officials are investing this as arson and are still trying to figure out where and how the fire got started.
Neighbors initially told fire fighters that two people lived there—the man and his wife. However, it turns out that his wife died a few years ago.
