HOUSTON – An employee at a check-cashing business was caught on video stealing more than $80,000 from a safe and a cash drawer, Harris County investigators said.

Krystal Mary Ramos, 19, is charged with theft.

According to court documents, deputies were called to the Speedy Check store in the 13100 block of FM 1960 on March 21, 2012.

An employee there said she noticed that $86,060.74 was missing from the business, so she looked at the surveillance video to see what happened.

On that video, the employee said she saw Ramos, who also worked at the store, taking the cash from the safe and a cash drawer, then leaving the building.

The employee said Ramos did not have the authority to take the money.

Charges were filed on March 22, 2012.
