HOUSTON—A 30-year-old man who was supposed to be riding with two young boys around the neighborhood to see Christmas lights, instead pulled up pornographic videos and masturbated in front of the frightened children, according to Harris County Sheriff’s deputies.

Sammy Vasquez was charged with indecency with a child.

Deputies said Vasquez, who was a family friend, and the boys, ages 12 and 13, were riding around the neighborhood late at night on December 23, 2012. One of the underage children was driving.

During the ride, Vasquez began to play a pornographic movie on his cell phone and asked the kids to watch it with him. They told him that they did not want to see it, but he left it on anyway and began to fondle himself, according to court documents. He asked the boys to touch themselves also, but they refused, investigators said.

When the boys told Vasquez someone was coming, he stopped and had them drive to the neighborhood recreational center. Vasquez asked the boys to open the bathroom door for him, but they informed him that the code would not work because it was after 11 p.m.

Vasquez then had them drive to the park, where he began to masturbate again.

The trio began to head home after Vasquez spoke to his boyfriend, but as they neared the house, Vasquez grabbed the wheel and had the boy driving the cart turn around again.

They all headed back to the park and Vasquez allegedly pleasured himself again.

Vasquez finally allowed the kids to return home and asked them not to tell anyone what happened, investigators said.

The children told their parents the next day and authorities were contacted.

Charges were filed and Vasquez’s bail was set at $5,000.
