HOUSTON—Guests were temporarily evacuated from the Hilton Hotel in downtown Houston early Tuesday after a fire broke out on one of the floors, according to Houston firefighters.

Firefighters were dispatched to a fire at the hotel, located on Lamar at Avenida de las Americas, just after midnight and found guests self-evacuating.

Investigators said an electrical panel shorted out and caught fire, filling the 18th floor with smoke.

No guests or staff members were injured and the hotel did not sustain any major damage.
