HOUSTON -– Family members of Rene Almeida will say goodbye to the grandfather at a funeral service on Wednesday, his daughter tells KHOU 11 News.

The service will be held April 23 at 10 a.m. at the Caballero-Ryder Funeral Home. It’s located on Grillo Way in Rosenberg.

Family members are still asking for someone to step forward with information about Almeida’s shooting death.

At least one suspect was taken into custody after the shooting at a condo complex in southwest Houston early Friday morning.

Witnesses said the guard got into an argument with somebody who was trying to get into the complex to visit a friend. They said the man, who was on a motorbike, was screaming at the guard. The guard didn't respond and wouldn't let him in, so the man left.

Moments later, gunshots were heard and the guard was found on the ground.

He was only on the job for two weeks, his company said.

Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
