HOUSTON – A Harris County Sheriff’s deputy has some good Samaritans to thank for rescuing him when he was trapped in his patrol car.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office said two deputies were on their way to an emergency call when they crashed into another car that was making an illegal U-turn.
The collision happened on Stuebner Airline at FM 1960 in the northwest Harris County. The impact sent the patrol unit onto its side, trapping one of deputies inside.
“The passenger deputy was still strapped in his seatbelt, and when we rolled the car over he was able to get loose,” Omar Hatamleh said.
Hatamleh and some other people had to push the patrol unit back over to get the trapped deputy out.
The driver of the car they hit was not seriously hurt, but may face charges.
