LA MARQUE, Texas – A Galveston County Sheriff’s deputy flipped his patrol car Sunday morning, but only suffered minor injuries.
Deputy Andrew Mejia was trying to chase a speeding motorcyclist heading south on Interstate 45 shortly after 3 a.m., officials said. The rider was traveling over 100 mph.
As Mejia took off, his car began to spin and then he lost control. The car slid into the grassy median and flipped over several times.
The deputy suffered facial and back injuries, but was expected to be released from the hospital soon.
The rider continued south toward Galveston and was not caught. La Marque police are investigating the crash.
