HOUSTON -- The Clear Lake woman who died from injuries in last month’s catastrophic train derailment in Spain was laid to rest Wednesday.
Myrta Fariza was remembered with a funeral mass at Saint Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in Nassau Bay.
Fariza and her husband were traveling through Spain after their daughter’s wedding in Rome when the high-speed train flew off the tracks. At least 79 people were killed in the wreckage.
Following the train crash, family and friends created a Facebook page titled “Hope for Myrta” where they collected donations and shared information.
