HOUSTON—A Friendswood mother had a blood-alcohol level four times the legal limit when she caused a head-on collision, police said.
The wreck happened at about 3 p.m. Thursday in the 800 block of Sunset Drive in Friendswood.
Caryan Ried, 39, was on her way to pick up her child from school when police said she veered into oncoming traffic. Ried and the driver of the van she hit were taken to the hospital.
Ried was later taken to jail, and is charged with intoxication assault. The punishment range for a third degree felony is two to ten years imprisonment and up to a $10,000 fine.
