HOUSTON –  Fort Bend County Independent School District officials placed four schools on lock down Thursday as Missouri City police searched for a purse snatcher.

Police said the victim chased the man who took her purse, and he dropped it and ran into the woods, not far from Missouri City City Hall on Texas Parkway.

Police searched the area and spotted the purse snatching suspect, but he ran. The man was eventually caught, but the victim could not positively identify him. Police still  arrested and charged the man with evading.

Nearby schools in the area, Marshall High School, Missouri City Middle School, Glover Elementary and Progressive High School were placed on precautionary lockdown, which has since been lifted.
