HOUSTON – The water is starting to go down Tuesday afternoon, but it has covered Saums Road throughout the day with a few people getting stuck in west Houston.

One couple drove her mini-van through – it did not make it. Thankfully, a stranger helped them push it out of the water. While the drivers with lower cars had trouble, those with high trucks could just plow on through.

Still some were not going to take the chance.

“It doesn’t look at that deep, but it has a lot of force, you know. That’s very dangerous, especially when you can’t see the lines in the street,” Richard Sullivan, a driver, said.

Also, motorists have to think about what else you can’t see like a 4-foot rat snake that washed up on Greenhouse Road. A pest control guy happened to be driving by and picked it up off the road.

It did not survive – it had apparently been injured when it was hit by a vehicle.

Because of the rain, residents may see more of these creatures – another reason to not venture into this kind of water.
