HOUSTON – Those interested were able to get a first look at some of the items inside the Astrodome that will be going up on the auction block this weekend.

It’s a sale that fans and collectors will not want to miss. They’re selling the distinctive rainbow colored seats in pairs, two seats, $200. Limit four per customer.

Among the other pieces of history, pieces of Astroturf from the first stadium in the world with artificial turf. Each one foot square will go for $20; again, limit four.

Other memorabilia will go on the auction block like benches from the sidelines and dugouts, turnstiles from the entrances and furniture from the suites looking down on the floor of the “Eighth Wonder of the World.”

Organizers figure they will sell about a thousand seats, as many of them as they can tear up, fix up and clean up before the big Astrodome sale starts on Saturday morning.

Everything they’re selling here will come with a certificate of authenticity. They will take only cash and credit cards.

Registration for the auction begins at 7 a.m. Saturday. The sale opens at 8 a.m. The auctions start at 9:30 a.m.

Free parking will be available until 10 a.m. Saturday for the sale at the Astrodome.
