HOUSTON – Firefighters responded to a two-alarm fire a JCPenney’s store Sunday morning after employees arrived to find smoke coming from the store in southwest Houston.

Employees said, when they arrived to open the store located in the Meyerland Plaza at Beechnut near the West Loop, they found heavy smoke coming from inside the store.

By the time firefighters had arrived at the scene, the store’s sprinkler system has extinguished the flames. They said a wall caught fire in a clothing section on the first floor.

No one was injured, and officials have not said how much damage was caused by the fire.
