HOUSTON – A family is safe after an early morning apartment fire, but it is unknown if their beloved pet will survive. Firefighters rescued the dog that was trapped in the burning apartment on Saturday.

It happened at the Amherst at Cityview apartments located on Imperial Valley at Seminar in Greenspoint.
Around 2:15 a.m., HFD responded to an apartment fire and found flames shooting from an upstairs unit. They made a fast attack and extinguished the fire before it could spread to the attic.
The family got out safely, but their dog was still trapped inside. Firefighters rescued the dog and began to give it oxygen. They said the dog did not move, but was breathing hard. The cause of the fire is not known.
