GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas – Firefighters worked overnight to put out a large grass fire off Highway 87 on the Bolivar Peninsula.
The fire was reported Tuesday afternoon in Crystal Beach near the Port Bolivar Cemetery.
KHOU 11 News viewer Weylon Robinson sent in video of huge flames shooting from the ground. By 9:30 p.m. Galveston County officials said they had the fire under control.
Aerial views Wednesday morning showed just a couple of hot spots left, and the fire was finally tapped out sometime around 7 a.m.
There were no injuries reported.
