SPRING, Texas – Firefighters are working on putting out some hot spots where a grass fire has rekindled Saturday afternoon in north Harris County.
Fire officials had been closely monitoring the area after it was contained overnight Saturday in the 24500 block of Birnam Wood Boulevard near Cypresswood Drive.
The fire is still contained within the fire break and poses no threat to residents in the area, officials said.
On Friday, fire crews from all over the area were called in to battle the blaze, which started at about 6 p.m. A command post for the fire crews was set up at nearby Gloria Marshall Elementary School.
Fire officials said that at no point were any of the homes or structures nearby ever in danger. The blaze burned an estimated 100 acres, and was contained by 1 a.m.
