GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas –- Crews from multiple agencies were called in early Wednesday to help battle a fire at a home on Tiki Island.
The home's location, which is along a canal on Galveston Bay, reportedly hampered firefighting efforts.
Tiki Island Fire Chief Simon said they were called out just after 9 a.m., and they arrived within five minutes.
Several firefighters were on foot at the scene spraying water onto the fire.
A nearby home suffered fire damage as well, but neither home was occupied at the time.
A reporter from The Galveston County Daily News tweeted a photo at the scene which showed a lot of black and white smoke rising into the sky.
Later views from Air 11 showed the home was entirely destroyed.
Galveston, Bayou Vista, Texas City, Hitchcock, and Santa fe Fire Departments also responding to assist with the fire. No one was injured.
