HOUSTON -- The Houston Fire Department said a firefighter sustained a minor injury to his foot while inside a burning home on the northeast side of town late Monday.
HFD said firefighters were called to an abandoned home on Bleker Street at Lee Street around 9:30 p.m. They found heavy flames coming from the one-story structure.
Firefighters made a fast attack and got the blaze under control.
One firefighter was taken back to the station by ambulance after suffering a swollen ankle. HFD said the firefighter either fell through the home’s wood floor or he hit his foot on some debris in the home.
A cause for the fire was not determined.
