Fire officials investigating cause of northeast Houston house fire

HOUSTON – Fire officials are investigating the cause a fire from Saturday night that spread to two abandoned houses in northeast Houston.

According to the Houston Fire Department, firefighters responded to a house at 10:30 p.m. near Staples and Quitman. When firefighters arrived, they found a two-story wood frame abandoned house on fire with heavy flames coming from the second floor.

Although the firefighters reacted quickly and were able to get the fire under control, the abandoned house next door also burned as well, fire officials said.

Arson is investigating the fire. No injuries were reported.
