HOUSTON – A kitchen fire at a restaurant forced the evacuation of nearby businesses early Sunday in west Houston, fire officials said.
According to the Houston Fire Department, firefighters were called to the Sushi Houston Restaurant at 1 a.m. after someone reported seeing smoke coming from the restaurant.
When firefighters arrived at the scene near Westheimer and Fountainview, they found a fire in the kitchen area, officials said. Firefighters were able to quickly put out the flames.
Businesses nearby were evacuated as a precaution, and no injuries were reported, officials said.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
