HOUSTON – At Sports Talk 790AM the self-proclaimed “Gentlemen of Sports” had a lot to say about Texans coach Gary Kubiak’s collapse.
His condition was not just a popular topic on the radio Monday morning, but also a personal one.
“This kind of thing really hits home for me, because I know about the stress that these guys are under and it’s a much more difficult. They take things home with them that the rest of us don’t take home with us,” host Lance Zierlein said.
That may be especially true when it is such a stressful season. But at Memorial Park, many people still believe in their coach, and many are now pulling for his swift return to the game.
“Hopefully, he’ll be fine,” fan Ellyse Espinoza said. “I know our prayers are all with him so I think he’ll be back strong.”
“Just one of those freak things, you know, don’t have an answer for,” fan Terry Randle said. “You know they say he’s physically fit, not too old, maybe stress.”
On Monday there was a dark cloud over Reliant Stadium that could easily reflect the mood of the season.
It could just as easily reflect the sadness and concern among fans that are all now pulling for their coach.
