HOUSTON—The family of a man killed by a fake census worker held a fundraiser Saturday to add money to his reward fund.
Reginald Haynes died as part of a north Houston home invasion on May 8. Family members said the victim’s son opened the door for three unknown men, believing they were with the census.
Police said the suspects assaulted several occupants of the home, including the victim, Haynes. Haynes suffered stab wounds and other injuries. He died at the hospital.
Investigators said the suspects ransacked the home and left with several items.
Haynes' family hopes the added reward money will help solve the crime.
Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (713)-222-TIPS. A reward of up to $5,000 will be given for any information that leads to an arrest.
