HARRIS COUNTY, Texas –- The Cy-Fair Volunteer Fire Department responded to a house fire late Wednesday that may have started with a vehicle parked outside.

A spokesman for the fire department said they were called to Sandalfoot Street near Oceanside Drive around 9:30 p.m. The first firefighters on the scene found heavy flames coming from the front of a home and a Ford Mustang parked nearby.

Eight family members escaped unharmed.

Firefighters were able to put out the blaze, but there was heavy damage to one side of the home and the attic.

Investigators believe the car caught fire first, which then spread to the garage.

Family members said the Mustang was just recently repaired, but there’s no official word on what started the blaze.
