HOUSTON -– A family made a safe escape from a northwest Houston house fire early Wednesday morning, firefighters said.
The Houston Fire Department was called to a home along Yorkdale Drive around 4:30 a.m.
The first firefighters on the scene said they found flames shooting from the roof of a one-story home. They made a quick attack and were able to put it out before it caused even more damage.
A family that lives in the home was visibly shaken by the incident but escaped uninjured.
An early investigation indicated the fire was electrical and started in the attic above the kitchen, firefighters said. It burned through the home’s roof, but the interior of the home suffered mostly water and smoke damage.
