HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -– A 12-year-old boy was inside a northwest Harris County Family Dollar store when two armed robbers stormed in late Tuesday.
He texted his mom, who was waiting in the parking lot, to tell her what was happening. She called 911 to report the robbery at the store on Fairbanks N. Houston at Rodney Ray Boulevard.
Deputies said two men with bandannas over their faces held the female manager at gunpoint. They forced her to open the safe and got away with cigarettes and about $1,000 in cash.
There were several workers and customers in the store at the time, but no one was hurt.
A detailed description of the gunmen was not immediately available, but they were both thin black males wearing all black clothes, black baseball caps and black bandanas. They are believed to be 18 to 19 years old. It’s believed the duo had a getaway driver and car waiting for them outside.
Anyone with information about the suspects’ identity is asked to call Crime Stoppers of Houston at 713-222-TIPS (8477) or to submit a tip via the iWatchHarrisCounty phone app.
While responding to the scene, a deputy was involved in a minor crash in front of the store. No injuries were reported.
