FORT BEND COUNTY, Texas – An alert citizen helped capture four aggravated robbery suspects Wednesday afternoon, according to the Fort Bend County Sheriff’s Office.

It all began as a 16-year-old boy was walking in the 14700 block of Wynbourn Way Drive, near Bissonnet and Highway 6, around 3 p.m. Deputies said a green vehicle carrying four males pulled up next to the teen and one of them threatened him with a handgun, then took his iPhone and backpack.

“I m just thankful to be alive right now,” said the victim. “I shouldn't take things for granted as I did before.”

A few minutes later, a witness contacted the Sheriff’s Office to report a suspicious vehicle in the neighborhood and that someone dumped a backpack onto a lawn. The witness gave the license plate number of the vehicle to a deputy.

That deputy looked up the owner’s address and was heading to the location when he spotted the vehicle near the intersection of West Bellfort and Highway 6.

A second deputy arrived and, as they approached the vehicle, a deputy spotted a handgun magazine in the rear seat of the car. Deputies found a loaded 9 mm pistol underneath the front seat and also discovered a loaded shotgun in the vehicle’s trunk.

The stolen items were recovered and the four suspects, identified as Cedarius Smith, 20; Ditalian Kelley, 19; Chidurum Onwuegbu, 20; and Keith Menifee, 21, were taken into custody.

The suspects, who are all from Houston, were charged with felony aggravated robbery/ use of a deadly weapon and engaging in organized criminal activity.

“I have nothing to tell them just learn from their mistakes and move on,” said the victim.

Each suspect has a bond of $50,000 for each charge. They remain in the Fort Bend County Jail.
