HOUSTON -- Authorities say a former Texas state trooper was killed when he lost control of the pickup truck he was driving after fleeing the scene of another crash.
Investigators said 48-year-old Steven William Fetters apparently ran a four-way stop sign in the suburb of Conroe and collided with a car Saturday night.
Officials said Fetters left the scene at a high speed before losing control of the pickup, causing it to roll several times. He was pronounced dead at a Houston hospital.
His 34-year-old passenger, Anna Faith Burchell, was thrown from the vehicle and is listed in critical condition at Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston.
Details about the other car and its occupants weren’t released.
Fetters formerly worked for the Texas Department of Public Safety in Montgomery County.
