HOUSTON – Employees at a McDonald’s on the northwest side of town were forced to run for cover Friday night during an armed robbery, police said.
According to the Houston Police Department, three gunmen stormed in to the restaurant on Highway 290 and Tidwell around midnight and demanded cash and cell phones.
Police said as the victims ran for the exits, the gunmen took aim, striking one male McDonald's employee. He went to Ben Taub Hospital in serious but stable condition.
"We seen the women, the employees from here run," said a witness named Mario. "They just started running and then we heard three more shots fired."
Another witness named Tisha was in line in the drive-through when she heard shots.
"What if it was me or my daughter," she said. "That just scared the mess out of me. I don't want to drive through. I don't want fast food. I'll just eat at home."
The three suspects got away with an unknown amount of cash and cell phones.
"You can't even go get a late night snack with your child," Tisha said, commenting on the frequency of armed robberies these days in public places.
