HARRIS COUNTY, Texas -- Precinct 4 deputies say drunken drivers hit two of their patrol cars in separate crashes in northern Harris County late Thursday.
Deputies said both crashes occurred on FM-1960 near Rayford Road, not far from Bush Airport.
Around 8:20 p.m. a large pickup truck slammed into the back of a female deputy stopped at a red light. While the patrol car was heavily damaged, the suspect’s large pickup with a heavy-duty steel bumper was not.
Pct. 4 deputies said the pickup truck driver led them on a 10-minute chase before he stopped. He was arrested and found to be intoxicated. The injured deputy was sent to the hospital in stable condition and was later released.
About an hour later, deputies said a second drunken driver hit a patrol car blocking FM-1960 due to the first crash. In that incident, no deputies were injured.
The male driver of the pickup involved in the second wreck was sent to the hospital in stable condition. Deputies said he was also found to be intoxicated.
