Driver trapped when pickups collide along Beltway 8 in SW Houston

HOUSTON -- Firefighters rescued a driver who was trapped in an upside down pickup truck following a collision in southwest Houston late Tuesday.

The incident occurred around 11 p.m. on the frontage road for Beltway 8 at Hillcroft. Police said a driver in a Nissan pickup ran a red light and struck a Ford pickup at the intersection.

The Nissan flipped over, and the driver had to be rescued. He was taken to the hospital with unknown injuries.

The driver in the Ford was a little sore but was not taken to the hospital.
