HOUSTON -- A woman rolled her Lexus sport utility vehicle on Woodway near Fountain View late Wednesday, knocking out power and utilities to nearby homes, police said.

According to the Houston Police Department, the crash occurred around 11:30 p.m.

HPD officers arrived at the scene to find the Lexus upside down in a nearby apartment complex’s parking lot. Firefighters were able to get the woman out of the vehicle but said it appeared she did not sustain any serious injuries.

Officers said the young driver was traveling east on Woodway at a high rate of speed when she lost control at a curve in the road. The SUV hit a wood electrical pole, splitting it in half. The broken pole knocked out electricity, phone service, and cable TV to about 3,000 customers. The car then went through a fence and came to a stop in the parking lot.

The woman was looked over at the scene by police as part of the investigation into how the crash occurred.
