HOUSTON -– Police said an investigation was underway into what caused a man to speed out of a gas station parking lot and crash into a concrete pole, killing him.
It happened near a Shell gas station along the North Loop at W. TC Jester Boulevard shortly before midnight Monday, Houston police said.
A clerk said the driver of the white late-model Dodge Challenger sped out of the gas station’s parking lot. It then hit a concrete pillar under the North Loop. Police said the driver was killed instantly.
The Houston Police Department closed the freeway’s westbound frontage road and both directions of TC Jester during the investigation and cleanup.
