HOUSTON — One person was killed Sunday afternoon when he was hit by a Metro bus on the North Freeway/I-45 near North Main Street.
According to the Houston Police Department, the accident occurred shortly after 1 p.m. when a vehicle stopped on the freeway with a flat tire. The stopped car caused four vehicles to collide.
While trying to avoid the crash, an approaching bus swerved and hit one of the drivers involved in the the accident.
Officials said the driver got out of his car and was walking on the freeway when he was hit. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Four people were transported to St. Joseph’s Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The bus was in-service at the time of the accident, and one person on-board was treated for cuts to his face.
Police did not identify the person who was killed.
