HOUSTON -- A driver was critically injured early Friday after crashing his car into a car dealership along the Katy Freeway, according to Harris County Sheriff’s deputies.
A Nissan Altima with four occupants inside was traveling at a high rate of speed eastbound on the Katy Freeway feeder road at Promenade around 2:30 a.m. when the driver lost control and slid sideways across the road and crashed into three vehicles at a car dealership.
A metal pole that goes around the front of the dealership impaled the male driver. It took emergency responders from the West I-10 Fire Department nearly half an hour to free the man. He was airlifted to Memorial Hermann Hospital in critical condition.
The male front passenger was taken to the hospital by ground ambulance in stable condition.
Two female passengers riding in the back seat of the car were not hurt.
