GALVESTON — A judge on Tuesday sentenced a man to 10 years in prison after he admitted fatally striking a bicyclist and then leaving the wreck scene.

Daryl Leslie Harris, 33, pleaded no contest in January to a felony charge of accident involving death in the May 5 wreck that killed Galveston resident Edward Eugene Proctor.

Proctor, 70, was cycling west in the 2900 block of Avenue N when he ran a stop sign, which was the only contributing factor to the crash, Galveston police said.
