HOUSTON—A pickup truck traveling inbound on Highway 290 hit a guardrail and swung into traffic, bursting into a fire that the driver could not escape Sunday morning.
Around 9 a.m., a driver in a pickup truck attempted to take the Mangum exist but changed his mind and swerved into a guardrail. The truck swung out into traffic and was hit by a passing Toyota sedan.
The back tire of the truck flew off and hit two other vehicles. The pickup then burst into flames and the driver was not able to make it out.
Inbound lanes of 290 were still closed until 12:40 p.m.
