HOUSTON –- A late-night crash sent a driver to the hospital in critical condition in north Harris County, deputies said Tuesday.
The crash happened around 9:45 p.m. on Aspen Bend Drive near Misty Forest Court.
According to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, the driver of a white sedan was speeding in wet weather when he lost control at a curve in the road. The vehicle hit a brick mailbox and then slammed into a tree. Deputies said the man wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, and he was nearly ejected from the vehicle.
He was sent to the hospital with cuts to his face, which deputies said were caused by broken beer bottles in the car. Investigators said the man would be looked over at the hospital to see if he was drunk at the time of the crash.
Authorities said this is the second crash at the same location in less than two weeks. The other accident took out a nearby mailbox and a street pole. The roads were wet the day of that crash as well.
