HOUSTON -- A man driving a pickup truck was shot in the head, causing him to crash into a home in southeast Houston, police said.
According to the Houston Police Department, the shooting happened around 11 p.m. Thursday as the man drove on Pease Street near Napoleon Street.
Police said after the man was shot, his truck sped up and crashed into the corner of a home. A resident was there at the time, but he was not injured.
“I was laying down,” said Michael Jefferson. “I heard a gunshot, and I heard a crash. I jumped up, and I looked. The truck was in the house. So I come out the back door trying to figure out what happened. I seen the dude in the truck – his head – they say he got shot. That’s all I know.”
Police said the shooting victim was rushed to Ben Taub Hospital and was expected to survive.
The shooting suspect was not found.
Investigators said the crime may have been the result of a drug deal gone bad, but officers did not find any drugs at the scene.
