HOUSTON – HPD officers are still considering charges after a driver and his car ended up inside a house in southwest Houston.
The accident left behind plenty of structural damage and a car-sized hole in the dining room wall.
According to the Houston Police Department, it happened in the 8400 block of Bellaire Boulevard.
Investigators said a man is his 50’s driving a Toyota Camry lost control of his car on Bellaire. He clipped another vehicle and then ripped through three home front yards before hitting the house.
The car ended up nearly all the way into the brick home.Luckily, no one was home at the time, but the homeowner is in for a big surprise.
The driver was not seriously injured but was taken to the hospital as a precaution, police said. Officers said he did not appear to be intoxicated.
The driver of the car he hit first saw the whole thing and said the car was going nearly 60 miles an hour.
“Somehow he drivers and come my way and he hit me – my bumper. And he flew over there either he wanted to get away or he lost control. I don’t know what happened,” he said.
The speed limit in the area is 25. Police said speeding is a serious problem on this stretch of road.
Investigators are also looking into the accident on the roadway before the car went flying through the front yards and into the home.
So far, there have been no charges filed but the investigation is ongoing.
